The Book

The book “Punto y Parte (Point n’ Go)”, through a didactic methodology, it seeks to be a source of relaxation, meditation and inspiration to introduce a series of meditation ideas and techniques by drawing patterns, doodles and scribbles known to some as Doodle Art, ZenArt (Zen Art), Tangle Patterns, Zendalas, Zendoodling (Zen Doodling), and by others as Zentangle.

It proposes a co-authorship between the main author Nathalia Olave and the reader, who will determine the end of the book. So that once some type of drawing is made on it, it will become a unique and unrepeatable piece. The book provides a number of steps to follow to guide the process of learning the technique generating an intimate relationship between book-person. In addition, Punto y Parte (Point n’ Go) seeks to be a faithful companion for leisure moments, regardless of the place, the time, or the situation that the reader chooses to acquire the benefits of this set of ideas and techniques.

Naming

“Punto y Parte” (Point n’ Go) alludes to the origin. The origin of each line that at the end forms a pattern, the drawing, and the dynamics of the book begin and end with the union of a dot/point. The name comes from the action of leaving giving the user the signal that it is time to start exploring and learning the technique.

The Format

Second Edition (Spanish Version): (ISBN 978-958-46-6861-5) It is a book that fits easily in a pocket, this last revised version of the book measures 11 cm x 12.5 cm, being more comfortable and portable than the initial version. It has 20 sheets printed on a A0/ANSI E sheet of paper to minimize waste and the binding process, in this case, in the form of an accordion. The binding was chosen so as not to interrupt the co-author’s creative process. The book also includes a 12-sided paper dice, to assemble, with the patterns of initiation to the technique.

100 copies were made by hand which were numbered one by one by the author.

First Edition: Punto y Parte (Point n’ Go), in this edition, has a hardcover, it fulfills the function of preserving the shape and facilitating its use. 26 sheets of 11 cm x 17.7 cm printed on a sheet to minimize paper waste. Includes a 6-sided die and a pen. 30 books were made (Discontinued).

The accordion format is suitable to show the evolutionary process and development, especially the traces of the user and the confidence when learning the technique. The die assists the user in making the choice and adds a tinge of chance and randomness to learning.

The Golden Ratio

In the process of building the first editorial product, The Golden Ratio was applied to generate harmony between the parts, the content and the whole. The frames designed for the book go through these points so that the piece is visually striking.

Basic design elements such as: rhythm and textures, repetition, color and the use of line were used, which can be seen in all the pieces generated by the author of Punto y Parte (Point n’ Go).
